Rectoly — Refund Policy
Last updated September 27, 2026
Rectoly is developed by Hawk Eye. This policy explains how refunds work for Rectoly for Mendeley and Rectoly for Zotero. Who handles a refund depends on where you bought the app.
Try it before you buy
Every feature of Rectoly is free for 14 days. The trial never turns into a charge on its own: you pay only if you choose to make the one-time purchase. Please use the trial to check that Rectoly works with your library and your device.
Purchases on our website (Windows, Mac, Linux and Android)
The desktop and Android versions of Rectoly are sold through our online reseller, Paddle.com; a purchase you start in the Android app is made on our website too. Paddle is the Merchant of Record for these orders: it processes the payment, handles sales tax and VAT, issues your receipt, and returns the money when a refund is approved.
- 14-day refund. If you are not satisfied, ask for a refund within 14 days of the purchase date and you will receive a full refund. You do not need to give a reason.
- How to ask. Use the link in the receipt email from Paddle, or look up your order at paddle.net. You can also email us at support@rectoly.com with the order number shown on your receipt.
- When the money arrives. Refunds go back to the payment method you used. How long it takes to appear depends on your bank or card issuer.
- After 14 days. Purchases are generally not refundable after 14 days, except where applicable law requires a refund — for example, if Rectoly does not work as described and we cannot fix it. If something is wrong, please contact us first; we would rather solve the problem.
- Misuse. We may decline a request where there is evidence of fraud or refund abuse, such as repeatedly buying and refunding.
What a refund changes
A purchase unlocks the edition you bought — Rectoly for Mendeley or Rectoly for Zotero — on every device where you sign in with the same account: your Mendeley account for Rectoly for Mendeley, your Zotero account for Rectoly for Zotero. When a website purchase is refunded, that edition's unlock is removed from all of those devices — Windows, Mac, Linux, iPad, iPhone and Android. A separate purchase you made in the App Store is not affected. Your documents and annotations stay in your Mendeley or Zotero account.
Purchases in the App Store
Purchases made on iPad or iPhone, and purchases of the Mac version in the App Store, are processed by Apple, and refunds for them are decided by Apple under the App Store's own policy. We cannot issue these refunds ourselves. Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Your statutory rights
Nothing in this policy limits the rights you have under the consumer-protection law of the country where you live. If you are a consumer in the European Union, the United Kingdom or another country with a right of withdrawal, that right applies in addition to this policy.
